First days at school for young children are a mixture of all kinds of emotions. The school day and its demands can be quite daunting and at first very tiring. In order to introduce the school to you and your child, we invite you to spend some time with us in an informal way. Your child will be invited to attend school for a programme of visits during the term before he or she is due to start school. This gentle introduction should make your child’s first day a little less daunting – and your own at home less anxious.
You will also be invited to a meeting with the Head Teacher and Foundation Stage Teacher to discuss your child and support successful induction during the half term before they start school.
At the end of the summer term of the year in which they have their eleventh birthday they transfer to Secondary school, usually to Ludlow School, Wigmore High School or to Bishops Castle Community College. The school has excellent links with these schools, and every effort is made to make the transfer as easy as possible. Parents will be informed in advance of details and options relating to the transfer of secondary education.
